Expressions of interest to develop the Village Hub will be sought from the property development industry after a Council decision this week.

Expressions of interest to develop the Village Hub will be sought from the property development industry after a Council decision this week.
The Council considered a detailed report on the Village Hub, and will now seek expressions of interest from interested parties in the development sector by October this year as the next step in delivering this significant project.

Located on the western side of Lindfield centre, the Lindfield Village Hub will deliver a mix of green open space and community buildings including a library and community centre, coupled with new housing, dining and retail outlets.
Market soundings conducted by the Council have revealed a high degree of interest in the project.
A detailed report to Councillors recommended that the expressions of interest in the project be sought on the open market this year.

Councillors also considered whether to enter into exclusive negotiations with Woolworths, in response to receiving an unsolicited proposal from them to develop the Village Hub.

The Council resolved not to consider this proposal, or any other unsolicited proposals while seeking expressions of interest from the development market.
Speaking after the meeting, Mayor Jennifer Anderson said the Lindfield Village Hub was the ‘most exciting project the Council has worked on in decades ’.

“The Council wants to provide an opportunity to all interested parties to be part of this landmark project.”
She acknowledged the work of the Support Lindfield community group, saying ‘while some in the group might think it’s tempting to accept a proposal that says it will deliver the Hub for free, this is not true. Woolworths does not yet know what Council’s financial and development objectives are for the project, which will be released as part of the expression of interest process’.

“At the end of the day Support Lindfield, local residents and Council are aligned in wanting to see a quality, innovative space to live, eat, relax and shop.
